PCB to host the workshop entitled «Tissue Dynamics and Growth» of the European Science Foundation Blog Post

On the 7th and 8th of May, the Barcelona Science Park (PCB) will be hosting a workshop on «Tissue Dynamics and Growth». The event has been organised by Javier Buceta, head of the Theoretical and In Silico Modelling of Biological Systems Group ()–that is part of the Co.S.Mo. LAB Unit (Computer Simulation & Modelling) based at PCB– and professors from the University of Barcelona, J. Casademunt and F. Sagués. This workshop has been sponsored by the European Science Foundation (ESF) –under the supervision of the FuncDyn Programme– the Physics Faculty of the University of Barcelona and the Barcelona Science Park.

The 5th grant call for the project «Research in Secondary Schools» is now open Blog Post

The Barcelona Science Park has announced the fifth grant call aimed at researchers who wish to tutor secondary school students during their research projects. The initiative is included within the program , developed by the PCB, and its objective is to promote research within the educational community and to foster scientific vocations amongst the youth. Application deadline is May 4.

Presentation of the book “Directores de cine en Cataluña, de la A a la Z” authored by Magí Crusells Blog Post

Last Thursday March 26 the book “Directores de cine en Cataluña, de la A a la Z” by Magí Crusells, professor of Contemporary History at the University of Barcelona (UB), and secretary of the , organization linked to the Barcelona Science Park, was presented at the Social Club of the General Society of Authors and Editors (SGAE) in Catalonia. The following individuals spoke at the ceremony: Joel Joan, president of the Academy of Catalan Cinema; Joan Durant, editor of the UB; Joan Oliver, head of the Department of Contemporary History of the UB; the book’s author, Magí Crusells, and Josep Maria Caparrós, director of the Film-History Research Centre.

8th Call for the Practicum Programme entitled “Spend the summer at the Park” Blog Post

The period for the submission of applications to participate at the Practicum Programme entitled “Spend the summer at the Park” aimed at second-cycle students will open on the 16th of March and will run through the 16th of April. The objective of this initiative, organised by the Barcelona Science Park, is to bring the world of research closer to students of all universities through their participation in projects performed by the research groups, research centres and companies located at the PCB. .

La Fundació Bosch i Gimpera has signed an agreement with the Arts Santa Mònica Blog Post

The University of Barcelona (UB), through the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation () –located at the Barcelona Science Park- has signed an agreement with the centre to collaborate in art, science and communication projects. Arts Santa Mònica wishes to broaden citizens’ perspective on culture using a multidisciplinary and contemporary approach by opening research laboratories to any type of artistic creativity that is seeking new contents and themes, creation tools or languages linked to the world of science.

Neuroscience Technologies has been selected to participate in the Global Growth Program Blog Post

The company –located at the Barcelona Science Park, and part of the – is included within the twenty Catalan technological companies selected to participate in the Global Growth Program (GGP’09), a training forum aimed at improving business management with a global approach: sales, alliances and financing. Albert Ardèvol wins the ‘SusChem Young Chemical Researchers’ Blog Post

Albert-Ardèvol, who carried out his PhD in the Computational Modeling and Simulation Laboratory () at the Barcelona Science Park, just won the ‘‘ in the category PREDOC category for his study ‘The molecular mechanism of enzymatic glycosyl transfer with retention of configuration: evidence for a short-lived oxocarbenium ion-like species‘, published in 2011 in Angewandte Chemie (), one of the most prestigious journals in chemistry.
