The Catalan Association of Biotech Enterprises holds its first work session

On Wednesday 21 June, CataloniaBio, the Catalan Association of Biotech Enterprises, will hold a with the objective to promote collaboration between its member companies and other national and international enterprises. To be held in the Fèlix Serratosa Hall, this session will present the Fundación Genoma España as an agent in the biotech sector in Catalonia and the biopharmaceutcial symposium BioContact, which will bring together more than 1,200 participants next October in Quebec.

In the first part of the session, José Luis Jorcano, director of the Fundación Genoma España, will explain how companies can participate in projects run by this organization. A round table will also be held and will involve the director of the BioRegion of Catalonia, Gerry McGettigan, and CIDEM’s director of Business Development, Xavier Ferràs.

The second session, called “International business opportunities for the Catalan biocluster”, will include presentations by several organizations of interest to the Catalan business sector, such as CataloniaBio, the BioRegion of Catalonia, and the Québec Cahudière-Appalaches Pole; all organizations that seek to contribute to regional economic development. It will also include the presentation of the next BioContact meeting and presentations of the experience of the Catalan business sector in previous symposiums. Finally, representatives of CIDEM will explain the funding mechanisms for enterprises, such as the IRC and Tansbio programmes.

, chaired by the director of Oryzon genomics, Carlos Buesa, has organized this conference with the support of the Parc Científic de Barcelona, the Fundación Genoma España, CIDEM and the BioRegion of Catalonia.
