The Parc Científic de Barcelona joins the BioRegion Forum of Catalonia

The Parc Científic de Barcelona (PCB, Barcelona Science Park) is a member of the Governing Board of the BioRegion of Catalonia . This Forum is the advisory and participatory body for public R+D+I institutions and enterprises that collaborate in the development of the BioRegion project. The Forum seeks to promote activity in fields such as knowledge generation, transfer and exploitation with the aim to consolidate Catalonia as an international reference in biotechnology and biomedicine.

In the first meeting of the Forum, held on Wednesday 7 June, Jorge Gallardo, president of Almirall Prodesfarma was appointed president and the Governing Board was constituted. The director of the PCB, Fernando Albericio, took up a vice-presidency position, together with the rector of the Pompeu Fabra University, Josep Joan Moreso, and the director of Sanofi-Aventis in Spain, Belén Garijo.

The members of the Forum also elected the representatives who, together with those of the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Barcelona City Council, will make up the Board of Trustees of the BioRegion of Catalonia Foundation. In this regard, a total of 17 trustees were selected, among these the rector of the Universitat de Barcelona, Màrius Rubiralta; the president of CataloniaBio and director of Oryzon genomics, Carlos Buesa –both members of the Executive Committee–, and the vice-president of this business association and director of Advancell, Lluís Ruiz.

The Forum will promote relations between the organizations that participate in the BioRegion of Catalonia and will also collaborate in the same. “The Forum must become the “nerve tissue” of the BioRegion, the setting for debate and discussion, and a lobby that supports the interests of the sector”, commented Joan Cornet, president of the Executive Committee of the .
