The Core Scientific Services at the Barcelona Science Park (SCC-PCB) opens new lab space

A new cell growth lab and a general equipment area were opened last week at PCB's Core Scientific Services (SCC-PCB). The two units are located on the first floor of the Cluster Building (formerly known as Modular Building) at the Barcelona Science Park (P1B4). The two additions represent an expansion to the existing lab space and equipment available until now. The lab space and the equipment allocated to the units was determined taking into account the current growth of the lab space and the growth expected to take place in future months.

The cell growth lab unit is equipped with six biological safety cabinets and two CO2 incubators, and other miscellaneous related equipment (centrifuge, microscope, baths, pippets, etc). This space is in addition to the approximately 200 sq meters of cell culture units already in operation at PCB’s Core Scientific Services at the Hèlix and Clúster buildings.

The new general equipment unit is located next to the new cell culture lab and is equipped with five freezers, cold chamber, ultracentrifuge, mixers, laminar flux cabin. The new equipment increases the capacity of the service to meet the expected demand. These additions reflect the commitment of PCB’s Core Scientific Services to meet the changing needs of the laboratories located at the Barcelona Science Park.
