Presentation of the construction projects for the new university campus of Torribera

The rector of the UB, Dídac Ramírez, the president of the Diputación de Barcelona (Barcelona Provincial Council), Antoni Fogué, and the deputy mayor of Santa Coloma de Gramanet, Joan Carles Mas, have presented today the construction projects that will be carried out to develop the Food Science campus of Torribera, in Santa Coloma de Gramanet. The campus will be home to several teaching and specialized research centres, including the Food Research and Nutrition Institute (), an organization associated with the PCB. The campus will also house technology transfer services, the Science Area of the Barcelona Science Park and a cluster of companies linked to food and nutrition.

The several construction projects, which began last December, include restoring the Verdaguer, Gaudí and Marina buildings. In a later phase, the construction of three new buildings destined for teaching, research and accommodating several related companies and organizations is forecasted. The total expanse of the campus will cover a 50,000 square metre surface. <p The exhibition "Institutions Transform Torribera", which can be visited at the la Masia building and which will later be an itinerant exhibition, shows the current state of the Food Science campus and the aforementioned future plans.
