PCB will host the VII Spanish Drug Discovery Network Meeting

From 12 to 13 November the Barcelona Science Park (PCB) will host the VII Spanish Drug Discovery Network Meeting, which will bring together, once more year, renowned members from the international academia, scientific and business communities to debate and exchange knowledge about the latest advances in chemical biology, drug discovery and translational research.

This year, following a series of successful editions, the Spanish Drug Discovery Network (SDDN) joins forces with the Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening (SLAS Europe) to deliver additional value to the programme´s scientific content and to the overall organization in their annual meeting.

The forum, which on this year´s edition will be chaired by Jordi Quintana, head of the Drug Discovery Platform (PDD) at PCB, will be structured in four round tables, followed by an open debate between speakers and attendees to improve interaction. There will also be a space for the presentation of posters, exhibitors and networking sessions.

“The first meeting of the Spanish Drug Discovery Network (SDDN) was held in Madrid in 2008 providing Spanish businesses and the academic community in the field of drug discovery to strengthen their actions and improve  collaborations among the different bodies”, explains Dr. Quintana. “After four editions of  SDDN´s annual meeting -held in Santiago de Compostela, Barcelona, Granada and Valencia- a decision was made in 2014 to internationalize the meeting, which has now become a reality embodied in this seventh edition of the meeting to be held at  PCB with the collaboration of  SLAS´ European office.”

The Spanish Drug Discovery Network (SDDN) was born in 2008 with the aim of creating a forum where professionals working in the field of drug discovery in Spain could get to know each other better, exchange ideas, discuss new initiatives and technologies and, in turn, increase their visibility and influence, both nationally and internationally. The SDDN network was born as an initiative conceived by a large group of representatives from the academia, biotech and pharmaceutical companies, who manage this community in a coordinated fashion. Among the most relevant projects undertaken by the  SDDN is the Spanish Drug Discovery Centers Guide.

The SDDN network has an all-integrative vocation and is open to all professionals dedicated to the discovery and development of drugs to carry out their activities mainly in Spain. Registration to become a member of SDDN´s  virtual community can be done online via the link: www.drugdiscoverynetwork.es
