The project that received the most votes (26.94%) in the public survey commissioned by Live Researcher Fair 2019, in which more than 500 people participated, was the application of the CRISPR organ regeneration technique by the Pluripotency for organ regeneration research group of the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC).

The evaluation committee met on Wednesday 14 November to select the other 11 research groups and organisations which, between 6 and 9 March, will be relocating part of their laboratories to the CosmoCaixa science museum in Barcelona in this 17th edition of the fair to interact with the attendees and offer them the opportunity to conduct experiments and solve enigmas using scientific methodology. The objective of the Live Researcher Fair –organised by the Scientific Culture Department of Barcelona Science Park, in collaboration with “la Caixa” Foundation, is to showcase ongoing projects in Catalonia in different fields of research in order to bring science closer to the general public and to promote scientific vocations among young people.

The Fair is part of the PCB’s Research in Society science dissemination programme that stages more than 100 activities involving almost 5,000 people every year. In the most recent fair, more than 1,600 visitors were given the opportunity to conduct scientific experiments with the help of 80 researchers.

The programme has received the Educational Quality Seal of the Pedagogical Council of Barcelona, promoted by the Barcelona Municipal Education Institute (IMEB), and enjoys the support of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), of the Spanish Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness, as well as the Culture Institute of Barcelona (ICUB), created by Barcelona City Council.
