Biocontrol Technologies wins the Senén Vilaró award to the best innovative company

Biocontrol Technologies –based at the PCB-Santander Bioincubator within the Barcelona Science Park– has won the second edition of the "Senén Vilaró Award to the best innovative company", granted by the Social Council of the University of Barcelona (UB) and the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation. The jury has assessed this company's trajectory –which has followed the classic model to create a company based on UB technology –, the importance of its project of technology transfer, as well as the market opportunity represented by the products developed by the company. The event to present the award was hold on Thursday December 3.

Biocontrol Technologies, a company specialised in the isolation, development and production of natural microorganisms for use as biological control agents against the cultures of diseases, was created in 2004 as a spin-off derived from the University of Barcelona as a result of the joint collaboration between two research groups from the UB and the University of Sevilla.

The Senén Vilaró award, endowed with 10,000 Euros, was created in 2008 by the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation (FBiG) and the Social Council of the University of Barcelona. Its aim is to recognise the innovative capacity developed by a graduate or a company associated with the UB Group.
