Adult education, subject of the next conference organized by CREA

, the Centre of Social and Educational Research, announces a conference entitled "Adult education in democratic countries", to be held in the PCB Auditorium on 12 February. The conference aims to inform society at large about scientific research on adult education and to promote multilateral dialogue between the scientific community and social representatives.

The conference will include a presentation by Peter Javis, director of the Centre for Research in Lifelong Learning at the University of Surrey, on the current situation of adult education in democratic Europe, and by Antoni Petrus, UB senior professor in social education, on the training of professionals in the university that work in this field. Furthermore, the researchers Jesús Gómez, UB professor and vice-president of European Development Institutes, and Marta Soler, doctor from Harvard University and researcher of the Ramon y Cajal programme, will explain some of the current research lines in this field.

In addition, several round table sessions will include a number of social representatives, trade union delegates and local politicians, who will debate the rights of those who participate adult education, the requirements of those who work in this field and the training offered by distinct city/town councils.
