A drug against AIDS could be effective against the herpesvirus

Scientists at the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona) –based at The Barcelona Science Park– headed by the coordinator of the Structural and Computational Biology Programme and also a CSIC research professor, Miquel Coll, have published a new study that demonstrates that raltegravir cancels the function of an essential protein for the replication of one kind of herpes virus. The study has been published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academies of Sciences (doi:10.1073/pnas.1007144107).
