The Virtual Museum of the UB, a pioneer idea in Spain, includes collections located at the PCB

The University of Barcelona (UB) presented the first university Virtual Museum in Spain, which aims to disseminate the extensive cultural heritage of the UB, in an event held in the university's Great Hall.


The project encompasses over 250 pieces that reflect the disciplinary and patrimonial wealth of the UB and which have been initially organized into nine collections, including the and the BCN herbarium of the (CeDocVib), both located at the Barcelona Science Park.

Other noteworthy collections are the Museum of Catalan Pharmacy, which accommodates the first Catalan pharmacopeia and the second one in Europe, dating back to 1511, and the Collection of Scientific Instruments, which contains very interesting instruments including Dubosc’s magic lantern from 1870 and one of the first electronic microscopes: the Philips 200 transmission microscope, dating back to1966.

All of these collections will be expanded in an imminent second phase in which new elements will be incorporated next to already existing pieces and in which new collections will be added.
