The PCB will collaborate with Genome Valley, the main biocluster in India

During the closing session of the BioAsia 2009 conference, the president of the Executive Committee of the BioRegion of Catalonia ( )Manel Balcells, and the president of the Federation of Asian Biotech Associations (FABA), B.S. Bajaj, signed a collaboration agreement to promote the implementation of joint projects in the fields of biotechnology and biomedicine with Genome Valley, the main biocluster in India, located in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The agreement seeks to promote initiatives between science parks that carry out biotech and biomedicine activities in the Barcelona metropolitan area, such as the Barcelona Science Park (PCB), and the most important science parks of Genome Valley (ICICI Knowledge Park, Shapoorji Pallonji Biotech Park and APIIC Biotech Park).

The agreement is framed within the participation of Biocat in BioAsia 2009 – the most important international fair of the biotechnological and biomedical sectors in India- which was celebrated February 2-4, 2009 at Hyderabad. The Barcelona Science Park was part of the Catalan delegation- organized by Biocat upon invitation by the Federation of Asian Biotech Associations (FABA) – which attended the sixth edition of this contest. The objective of Biocat’s participation in BioAsia 2009 was to launch joint projects with reference research centres located in the state of Andhra Pradesh and Catalonia, in order to consolidate the biotech and biomedical industries as motors of economic investment in both regions, as well as to foster scientific and commercial relations and promote the exchange of talent.
