The PCB organizes a virtual matchmaking event to promote innovative technologies in oncology

The ABCEurope project (Advanced Biotech Cluster Platforms for Europe), promoted by the European Council of Bioregions (CEBR) and in which the Barcelona Science Park (PCB) participates, is organising the ABCEurope Matchmaking Virtual-Oncology event so that the life-science enterprises may make contact with the SMEs of innovative technologies in the field of oncology and thus reach potential agreements of collaboration and concession of licences.

The ABCEurope Matchmaking Virtual-Oncology is a great opportunity for European life science companies to virtually meet SMEs with innovative technologies in the field of oncology available for licensing or collaboration. Virtual matchmaking events are an effective and low costs way to find new potential business partners through one-to-one Skype video conference or telephone calls without the need for physical proximity.

Eleven established European bio-regions have come together to collect the best new technology companies in Europe and together with the Council of European Bioregions (CEBR) have created the framework for a virtual matchmaking event. Profiles of the companies are available on the website: www.cebr.net/oncology-profiles.

The «ABCEurope» project (Advanced Biotech Cluster Platforms for Europe) –has been promoted by the European Council of Bioregions (CEBR) of which the Barcelona Science Park (PCB) is a full member– with the aim to create a network comprising 13 European bioregions—key drivers in life sciences— to provide more efficient support services offered to SMEs in the biotechnology area and with the purpose of implementing various intervention programmes for the creation of a European Mega-Cluster of Excellence that enhances the impact of biotechnology in Europe.

The project is funded by the European Union under the Seventh Framework Programme with a budget of 3.5 million Euros and a duration of three years (2009-2012). Its development will be accessible through the portal of Europa Innova, an initiative of the Directorate-General for Enterprise and Industry of the European Commission which aims to become the laboratory for the creation of new tools to support innovation.
