The PCB invites executives who are ex-alumni of the IESE’s PADE programme to do research

A group of executives who are ex-alumni of the "Senior Management Programme" (PADE 2009) offered by the Business Management School of the University of Navarra (IESE) paid a visit to the Barcelona Science Park (PCB) last Friday January 29 to gain deeper insight into the project and its expansion plans. The visit is part of the meetings that are regularly organized by the ex-alumni of this programme and in this occasion it responded to an initiative of Giorgio Maritan, an ex-alumnus of this class and currently the general director of EYYTOO Bioscience, a company that has been recently incorporated to the PCB-Santander Bioincubator, located at the PCB.

The executives were greeted by the general director of the Barcelona Science Park, Fernando Albericio, and in addition to visiting the PCB-Santander Bioincubator –a project that promotes the development of new technology-based companies- they also performed an experiment at the PCB’s OpenLab, which is part of a research project that is being carried out in order to develop a drug to treat Parkinson’s. This visit to the PCB opens up a new initiative geared towards companies that are not linked to experimental research in order to bring them closer to the world of research, and to disseminate some of the research lines that are currently underway at the institutes and companies the PCB accommodates. br>

The workshop in which the executives participated was performed in collaboration with the Combinatorial Chemistry Unit (UQC-PCB) – one of the 9 scientific-technological platforms of the PCB, which in addition to offering its services and equipment to third parties, also carries out its own research.-, and is part of the “Do Research!” series that the PCB habitually offers within “Research in Society”, the scientific dissemination programme coordinated by the Scientific Diffusion Department and supported by the Caixa de Catalunya’s Social Welfare programme and Luwa.

This activity, together with the other workshops that are part of the “Do Research!” series, is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays to the educational community of the PCB’s OpenLab and is completely free of charge. It is also open to the general public at the Pedrera of the Caixa Catalunya over the course of Catalonia’s Science Week.

Eyytoo Bioscience is a recently created medical device company that specializes in contraceptive technologies for the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), and already has patents in the EU and USA. It was the winner of the 15th edition of ACC1Ó’s Investment Forum which was held within the framework of the HiT Barcelona International Congress at the Palau de Congressos of Barcelona (Montjuïc). The Investment Forum has encompassed business initiatives from the biotech, ICT and renewable energies sectors, aside from a selection of the best risk capital funds and private investor networks of Catalonia.
