The PCB holds an open-day for primary school pupils

Today, Friday 9 February, the Parc Científic de Barcelona (PCB, Barcelona Science Park) will start a new project aimed at 10-12-year-olds. During this activity, pupils visit laboratories and perform experiments. It will be held on two Fridays each month and forms part of the PCB's «Research in Society» programme. The activity, which is free-of-charge and aimed at primary schools, is organized in collaboration with Fun Science and with the sponsorship of the .

The visits, organized under the name «How does the scientific method work? Let’s study biomedicine!» seek to stimulate creativity and the capacity to reason among students aged between 10 and 12 and thereby broaden their education.

During this activity – between 10 and 12:30 h – students participate in a workshop-theatre in which two crazy scientists invite them to perform experiments following the scientific method while they talk about the functions of cells, DNA and genes. Finally, the students visit PCB facilities where they have first-hand experience of laboratories and become acquainted with the day-to-day life of a researcher.
