The companies involved in the Neurocure project receive an award on the occasion of “Entrepreneur Day”, organized by Barcelona Activa

The biotech enterprises Advancell, Crystax Pharmaceuticals and Oryzon genomics have been awarded the Business Cooperation Prize for their development of the Neurocure project. This prize, presented on 10th March on the occasion of the «Entrepreneur Day», is one of the Barcelona awards for entrepreneurial activity. The prize has been conferred in recognition of the contribution of the collaboration between these companies to the growth and consolidation of participant enterprises.

Among the awardees this year is the UB spin-off Biocontrol Technologies, which has been given the prize for the best business plan “to develop an innovative activity with a high growth potential in the city of Barcelona”. Set up by researchers from the Faculty of Biology jointly with a professor from the University of Seville, this company specializes in the research into and development of biological control agents such as fungicides to fight crop diseases while respecting the environment.

Through the Barcelona Prizes for Entrepreneurial Activity, the Local Development Agency for the city, Barcelona Activa, wishes acknowledges entrepreneurial sprit, its contribution to economic growth and to the creation of employment opportunities. These prizes are included in the events held to mark «Entrepreneur Day», an initiative promoted this year by the Barcelona City Council, the Ministry of Industry, the Dept. of Employment and Industry of the Generalitat de Catalunya (Regional Government) and the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce.
