Researcher Javier Martín awarded the 2004 Serra d’Or Prize

In an act held on 1 April in Barcelona, Javier Martín Vide, senior professor of the Dept. at the Universitat de Barcelona (UB, University of Barcelona) and head of the Climatology Research group, part of the at the Parc Científic de Barcelona, was awarded the 2004 Serra d'Or Prize.

Javier Martín Vide has been awarded the 2004 Serra d’Or Research Prize (category Other Sciences) for his book entitled “The weather and the climate” (Editorial Rubes 2003), which addresses experts and the public at large interested in climatology. The work is one of dissemination and gives a global perspective of the climatic system, which includes the atmosphere, oceans, land surfaces, cryosphere or ice pack, biosphere and socioeconomic subsystem.

Founded in 1967, the Serra d’Or Prizes are given each year to outstanding work published as literature, essays, research, theatre, children’s poetry and literature.
