The congress organizers – the Spanish Association of Bioenterprises (Asebio), the Basque Government, through the Society for Competitive Transformation (SPRI), and the BioBasque agency have increased their exhibit space requirements by a 50%. The forecasted figure of 168 exhibitors that attended in 2010 is expected to be exceeded this year. 23 companies and research organizations from Catalonia will be present, including Biocat (stand C18) as a sponsor of this year´s edition of BioSpain and the Barcelona Science Park (stand G38).

After the five previous editions, BioSpain has become the meeting point of reference for biotechnology in Spain and one of the most widely attended events in the sector across Europe. In 2010 its partnering system was in seventh place in the world ranking by number of meetings (2,147) and companies (641). In this year´s edition it is expected to become the fourth international event for business development and partnership (one-to-one meetings). It is expected that over 4,000 partnering meetings will take place.

The sixth edition of BioSpain is also characterized by a significant increase of international delegations compared to 2010. Countries such as Canada, France, Germany, Switzerland and Portugal, among others, have already confirmed the participation of their business delegations. This year, the UK will be the guest country to the event, with the participation of a large delegation of British companies.
