PCB organizes a two-day conference on business development at Expoquimia

is now open for the two-day conference that Barcelona Science Park (PCB) – in cooperation with the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation and the Institute of Bioengineering of Catalonia, and the support of Biocat – is organizing within the framework of the 15th Edition of the , which will be held in Barcelona from the 20th to the 24th of October. Both days are organized for participants who are interested in business development from the academic sphere and the possibilities offered by nanotechnology to enterprises.

The first conference, “Practical Applications of Nanotechnology” will be held on the 21st of October from 10:00 to 12:30h. It will be attended by business directors, researchers and heads of research centres at the PCB, such as Álvaro Mata of the Nanotechnology Platform at the PCB, Lluís Ruiz, Director of Advancell, Alfons Hidalgo from Infinitec Activos, Joaquim Querol from Endor Nanotechnologies, and Elena Martínez from the Institute of Bioengineering of Catalonia. Other speakers from other centres will also include Jaume Veciana from the Institut of Materials science of Barcelona (L’ICMAB –CSIC) and Narcís Homs, from the Institute of Nanoscience at Barcelona University.

The second conference “Business opportunities in the chemical-academic sector: successful cases” will be held on the 22nd of October”. It will be divided into round-table discussions, in which the following will take part: representatives of business units from the public sector and businesses respectively. The Director of the Barcelona Science Park , Fernando Albericio, will act as moderator in the first session, which will be held from 10:00 to 12:15h. It will count on the participation of representatives of the Universities of Alacant , Santiago de Compostela and Alcala, and also members of the Madrid Science Park and the Catalan Institute of Chemical Research. On behalf of the PCB, Miriam Royo (Platform of Combinational Chemistry) and Jordi Quintana (Platform of “Drug Discovery”) will speak.

At the round table on businesses, which will be presided over by Lurdes Jordi from the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation, Llorenç Rafecas and Joan Feixas from Enantia—based in the PCB—will participate, together with representatives of IKERCHEM, Galchimia, ENTREHEM, BIOMASCLINIC, APLICAT i AmsLab.
