Marina Rigau and Meritxell Teixidó, prizewinners in the Women Startup Awards 2022

Two female entrepreneurs of the Barcelona Science Park Community, Marina Rigau, the co-founder and CEO of MiMARK Diagnostics, and Meritxell Teixidó, the co-founder and CEO of Gate2Brain, have won prizes in the 1st edition of the Women Startup Awards 2022, in the Early Stage and Inspiration categories, respectively. The prizes, created by the ecosystem #WomeninTechSpain and the Spanish Startup Association, have the aim of promoting and showcasing the female talent of our country in the entrepreneurial world.

The Women Startup Awards 2022 received entries from over 500 female entrepreneurs with successful careers in various sectors and with different backgrounds and experiences that make each one of them unique. Fifteen of them were pre-selected and only five received a prize.

Marina Rigau was the award winner in the Early Stage category. With a solid career in the scientific and medical world, in addition to very notable achievements as an innovator and businesswoman, in 2021 she launched MiMark, a company located in the Barcelona Science Park which seeks to improve the health and life of millions of women, beginning with a better diagnosis of endometrial cancer.

In the Inspiration category, the award went to Meritxell Teixidó. After dedicating more than 15 years to biomedical research at the IRB Barcelona, working to improve the transmission of drugs to the brain by crossing the hematoencephalic barrier, in July 2020 she decided to take on the challenge of being the CEO and CSO of Gate2Brain a biotechnology company located in the Barcelona Science Park which aims to bring this technology closer to patients, combining science and innovation.
