The University of Barcelona renews the CCiTUB management team
The University of Barcelona (UB) has made public the appointments of Juan Fran Sangüesa as the new director of the Scientific and Technological Centers of the University of Barcelona (CCiTUB), and Eva Janet as head of Administration and Management. The CCiTUB -one of the largest medium-sized scientific-technical infrastructures in Spain- have several units located in the Barcelona Science Park, such as the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Laboratory, included since 2000 in the Map of Unique Scientific and Technical Infrastructures (ICTS).
Juan Fran Sangüesa, who starts today in his new position, is a biochemical engineer from the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées de Lyon and got his doctorate on Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of Montpelier. In Montpelier, he worked in the Centre de Recherche en Biologie cellulaire (CRBM) and the Institut de Génomique Fonctionnelle (IGF).
The new director of CCiTUB has a long experience on research and innovation management, acquired in institutions such as the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC), the Catalan Government’s Agency for Enterprise Competitiveness (ACCIÓ) and the UAB Research Park (PRUAB), where he led the Unit of Innovation Projects over the last seven years. He has taken part in more than R&D&i projects, promoting public and private collaborations nationally and internationally. Among these are the European projects IBISBA and NFFA, two great initiative to coordinate scientific and technological structures in the fields of biotechnology and nanotechnology, respectively.
The rector of the UB Joan Guàrdia thanked the outgoing director, José Ramón Seoane, for his dedication on leading the CCiTUB since 2010.
Eva Jané, until now operational coordinator, will assume the functions of head of Administration and Management of the Centers. Last Wednesday, March 17th, Dr Jordi García, vice-rector for Research; Dr Mercè Segarra, vice-rector for Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Transfer; Dr Maria Feliu, vice-rector for Doctoral Studies, and Xavier Meneses, director of Research Support, made public the appointment.
Vice-rector Jordi García highlighted the experience of Eva Jané and her widely demonstrated capabilities in her new scope of activity, both in material and human resources management, emphasizing her leadership capacity of work teams.
Eva Jané, lawyer by the Rovira i Virgili University (URV) and specialist in law and public organization by IDEC-UPF, will have analogous functions to a Center Administrator, being competent in human resources, formation, quality and economic and budgetary resources management, material resources and infrastructure, installation maintenance as well as operational coordination with the technical units. The relationship that she will have with the new CCiTUB director will be of coordinated cooperation.
