Appointment of Miquel Moretó as Director of Strategic Projects at the PCB

At the proposal of the managerial team of the Parc Científic de Barcelona (PCB), the rector of the Universitat de Barcelona (UB), Màrius Rubiralta, has appointed Miquel Moretó, senior professor of Physiology at the UB, director of Strategic Projects of the PCB. This new position will involve the promotion of strategic lines of research of interest to the UB Group. In this regard, Miquel Moretó will be responsible for developing the .

This appointment completes the new managerial team of the PCB. Directed by Fernando Albericio, this team comprises the following members: Montserrat Vendrell, deputy director; Joan Bellavista, commercial director; Víctor Gómez, manager; and Mercè Colom and Moisès Tarté, deputy managers of Organisation and Personnel and Finances, respectively.

Miquel Moretó (Barcelona, 1950) obtained his degree and Ph.D. in Pharmacy from the UB, where he has held the position of senior professor of Physiology at the Faculty of Pharmacy since 1986. His curriculum vitae documents the following positions: head of Pharmaceutical Studies (1986-1990), coordinator of the Unit of Physiology (1985-1998), director of the Dept. of Physiology of Division IV of the UB (1998-2001) and vice-rector of Scientific Policy of the same institution from 2001 to 2002. In addition, he has been a project assessor in the area of Quality of Life and Management of Living Resources in the V Framework Programme of the European Union.

As a researcher, Miquel Moretó heads a group on the Digestive Physiology and Nutritional Adaptation, which forms part of the consolidated group named Physiology and Experimental Nutrition. He is the author of 68 articles published in scientific journals, and has given more than 120 presentations in congresses. Moreover, he has been responsible for 12 research projects from competitive calls and 8 contracts with enterprises operating in the food sector. Editor of the European Journal of Nutrition (Heidelberg, Germany) since 1998, Miquel Moretó is also a member of the Physiological Society (1998), the Spanish Society of Physiological Sciences (1980) and the European Intestinal Transport Group (1978).
