A PCB project has been recognized by the ‘Award for best practice in science and technology parks of APTE´

The project Barcelona Science Park Investment Funds' has been recognized with one of the two second prizes Award for best practice in science and technology parks of APTE in the category of parks in operation for over 10 years. The awards awarded in this 4th edition of the contest will be presented during the XV International Conference of the Association of Science and Technology Parks of Spain (APTE), to be held in Sant Sebastià on the 22 and 23 of November.

The Investment Fund of the Barcelona Science Park, with a legal structure independent from that of the park, will bring together the investments from third parties that want to invest and take advantage of real estate profitability. The model is for the fund to invest directly in the civil works of space conditioning and refurbishing. When customers start occupying these spaces, they will have to pay the rent directly to the fund, until such time as the fund recovers the investment plus an annual interest. The contract between the fund and the park will not be completed until the former has recovered the investment plus the annual profitability.

With the start up of this fund, the Park aims to continue its growth and expand its impact on society and, particularly, in the field of the creation or growth of new technology and science-based companies.
