12th edition of «Live Research Fair» Blog Post

From 8 to 10 April, the Aula Capella of the Historic Building hosts the 12th , an initiative organised by the Parc Científic de Barcelona (PCB) and supported by the (UB) and . The main objective of the Fair is to show some research projects carried out at different Barcelona’s centres in order to bring society closer to research and foster young people’s interest in scientific vocations. The activity are part of PCB´s program , which offers more than 80 activities involving nearly 5,000 people each year.

The Barcelona Science Park has announced the fifth grant call aimed at researchers who wish to tutor secondary school students during their research projects. The initiative is included within the program , developed by the PCB, and its objective is to promote research within the educational community and to foster scientific vocations amongst the youth. Application deadline is May 4.

The Parc Científic de Barcelona takes part in the 18th Science Week Blog Post

With the aim of promoting the dialogue between science and society and encourage scientific vocations, the Parc Científic de Barcelona (PCB ) starts today a series of workshop titled «Do Research!» and «Research in Primary School» for young people aged 10-18 years old. Both proposals are part of PCB´s program «Research in Society», which offers more than 80 activities involving nearly 4,000 people each year.

The 2nd course of Xplore Health entitled “Bringing biotechnology revolution into the classroom’, was held at the Open Lab at the Barcelona Science Park on 7, 14 and 21 November. The course was aimed secondary school teachers in Catalonia and was organized by the Public Engagement Unit of the PCB with the support of the and the collaboration of the , the of the Generalitat de Catalunya and the European School Net (EUN). On this occasion, the program was offered in parallel at the Museum of La Coruña, and through the virtual community –coordinated by the EUN– which brings together 175,000 teachers and 95,000 European schools.

The European educational portal Xplore Health expands its contents with a new module on HIV / AIDS Blog Post

A new module on HIV / AIDS, developed jointly by the Barcelona Science Park (PCB) and the AIDS Research Institute IrsiCaixa, with the collaboration of the ‘la Caixa’ Foundation has been published today in the European educational portal , led by the Barcelona Science Park (PCB). The aim of Xplore Health- a project funded by the European Commission through the 7th Framework Programme, which also has the support of the Amgen Foundation-is to bring biomedical research closer to education, stimulate public debate, promote scientific culture and inspire future researchers through innovative multimedia tools and youth activities through the Internet, schools and science museums.

The Barcelona Science Park and the CatalunyaCaixa Foundation inaugurated today, the 10th edition of the «» Fair, which will take place on 24, 25 and 26 April at La Pedrera in order to exhibit the various projects carried out at research centers and institutes in Barcelona to bring research closer to the citizens, promote careers in this field and contribute to scientific understanding and awareness in society.

Opening of EXPONANO “Smaller than small. Nanotechnology under debate” Blog Post

EXPONANO “Smaller than small. Nanotechnology under debate” is the title of an exhibition that will be opened on 3 October at 18.30h in the “Pau Gargallo” Hall of the faculties of Chemistry and Physics of the Universitat de Barcelona (University of Barcelona) (Av. Diagonal, 647). The exhibition, which will be open daily to the public from 10 to 14 h and from 16 to 20h from 4 October until 15 December seeks to provide information and stimulate debate about nanotechnology and its application in our everyday lives.
