12th edition of «Live Research Fair»

From 8 to 10 April, the Aula Capella of the Historic Building hosts the 12th , an initiative organised by the Parc Científic de Barcelona (PCB) and supported by the (UB) and . The main objective of the Fair is to show some research projects carried out at different Barcelona's centres in order to bring society closer to research and foster young people's interest in scientific vocations. The activity are part of PCB´s program , which offers more than 80 activities involving nearly 5,000 people each year.

On the new edition of «Live Research Fair» nine research groups from different centres in Barcelona move one part of their labs to the Historic Building of UB and invite visitors to participate in their experiments. This year, visitors will discover very interesting projects. Some of these proposals include: “Chemistry and diversity in Antarctica. Actiquim project”, that studies marine natural products in Antarctic marine ecosystems in order to evaluate their pharmacological potential; “Gaia: our galaxy in a petabyte”, focused on the emblematic mission of the European Space Agency (ESA) that aims at building a 3D map of the Milky Way; “How do we study cancer”, that describes the study of the signals that modulate cell proliferation, differentiation and survival; and “Cells exert a force!”, about the force exerted by cells during individual and collective migration.

Like in previous editions, the three winners of the programme —addressed to upper secondary students who develop a research project supervised by a researcher from PCB— explain their projects at one of the stands of the Fair.
