El Conseller d’Universitats Recerca i Societat de la Informació visita el Parc Científic de Barcelona.
On 6th May, the Department for Universities, Research and the Information Society (DURSI), Generalitat de Catalunya, headed by the Minister Carles Solá visited the Parc Científic de Barcelona (PCB, Barcelona Science Park). He and his team were received by the rector of the Universitat de Barcelona (UB), Joan Tugores, and by the president of the UB Social Council, Joan Josep López-Burniol. Ramon Moles, secretary of the DURSI, Xavier Hernández, director of Research, and Marta Aymerich, director of the CIRIT, also accompanied the minister on his visit.
Having been to several universities around Catalonia, the DURSI’s visit to the PCB is one of a series being made to research centres. At present, the facilities at the PCB are fully occupied. There are around 900 people developing their activities on these premises, among which we highlight researchers at the Institute of Biomedical Research (IRBB-PCB), directed by Joan Guinovart, and at the Barcelona Molecular Biology Institute (IBMB-CSIC), headed by Ferran Azorín, as well as companies and spin-offs.
