The PCB wants to start an urban garden, will you help us?

The PCB plans to start a community garden with three goals in mind:

  • Promote community living, creating a space where we can interact and exchange knowledge in a natural environment in the fresh air.
  • Encourage healthy eating habits and zero food waste.
  • Acquire knowledge so we can bring the experience to other spots, helping to increase the city’s green spaces and favour plant and animal biodiversity in the urban environment.

The project needs a group of people who, for at least 2 days a week for 6 months, can commit to working the soil, tending to the crops, weeding and other basic horticultural tasks. The resulting harvest will be divided up among the participants.

Lending a hand in our endeavour will be the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC), which has already set up other community gardens in the Les Corts neighbourhood as part of its volunteering activities.

The AECC has offered to give us an informative talk on running and organising volunteer groups so that collaborative projects, urban community gardens in particular, go off without a hitch.

If you would like to know more about the project, send an email to sostenibilitat-pcb@pcb.ub.es.
