Registration open for 1st GAEM Scientific Symposium

The next June 18 will be held at CosmoCaixa Barcelona the First GAEM Scientific Symposium with the title "Antigen specific therapy for Autoimmune diseases: Multiple Sclerosis and Optic Neuromyelitis". Organized by Fundación GAEM and Obra Social "la Caixa", the symposium is intended to be the first of annual outstanding scientific meetings on hot topics for the treatment of Multiple Sclerosis with the aim of disseminating knowledge and closer views between researchers, medical doctors, patients, biomedical industry experts and all those interested in knowing the latest techniques in the diagnosis and treatment of this disease.
 

 

 

Current edition will account with the participation of key opinion leaders on antigen specific therapies such as: Prof. Lawrence Steinman (Stanford University, USA), Prof. Roland Martin (University of Zurich, Switzerland),  Dr. Daniel Benitez (IDIBAPS – Hospital Clínic of Barcelona) and Dr. Pere Santamaria (IDIBAPS – Hospital Clínic of Barcelona and University Alberta, Canada) and representatives of biopharmaceutical companies, such as Virginia de las Heras (Novartis).The goal will be to discuss the state of the art on efficacy and safety for the antigen specific therapies and its advantages in front of current therapies.

The GAEM Foundation is an independent nonprofit organization which main objective is to promote independent biomedical research with the hope of finding therapeutic solutions for the treatment of multiple sclerosis. One of the latest initiatives promoted by this organization is the Acceleration Program for the treatment of Multiple Sclerosis to support cutting edge research, which is unique in Europe.

Located at the Parc Científic de Barcelona, the foundation is chaired by Vicens Oliver, affected by multiple sclerosis since 1993.
