The Barcelona Science Park (PCB), a Spain’s leading scientific, technological and business innovation hub in the life sciences field, aims to embark on a new phase of growth, offering more than 1,200 square metres of office space, particularly to companies in the MedTech sector. To promote this ecosystem, it has signed an alliance with GENESIS Biomed. This consultancy firm, based in PCB, has raised more than 60 million euros for its clients since it was founded in May 2017 by Josep Lluis Falcó.

Researchers from the international collaborations LIGO and Virgo, in which the Institute of Cosmos Sciences of the UB (ICCUB) takes part under the coordination of Jordi Portell –co-director of the ICCUB Technology Unit, based in the Barcelona Science Park– have announced the discovery of an object of 2.6 solar masses, placing it firmly into so-called mass gap. That is an interval between the mass of the heaviest neutron star and the lightest blackhole, from which there were no observations yet.

Oncoheroes Biosciences and the Super Sam Foundation walking together for the pediatric cancer Blog Post

Oncoheroes Biosciences announces the receipt of funding from Super Sam Foundation, a pediatric cancer nonprofit organization. Oncoheroes is a Boston based biotech with its European headquarters at the Barcelona Science Park. The startup was co-founded in 2017 by Ricardo Garcia, a serial entrepreneur from Barcelona, and the Italian scientist Cesare Spadoni, two parents touched by childhood cancer and determined to change the outlook for these young patients.

 

IESE opens a new call for Proposals for the Barcelona Technology Transfer Group Blog Post

Droplite, located in the Parc Cientific de Barcelona (PCB), has recently started the industrial design and manufacturing development of its smart diagnostics device, focused on point of care (POC). The company, that it was born in 2018, as a spinoff of the Institute of Photonics Sciences (ICFO), from the hand of two entrepreneurs: André Guedes (CEO) and Rafael Porcar (CTO), was recognized with the Seal of Excellence by the European Union and with the Innovative SME seal from the Ministry of Science and Innovation.
