The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of the United States has positively assessed the University of Barcelona´s Scientific-Technical Services (SCT-UB) as a contracted laboratory to carry out drug analyses. The SCT-UB is comprised of seven units with laboratories located at the Barcelona Science Park (PCB).

This acknowledgement, which the FDA recently notified, has been obtained as a result of the inspection that took place at the SCT on November 12 and 13 2009. The activities that underwent inspection were the analyses performed in the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Unit and specifically in the laboratories that this unit has at the School of Chemistry of the UB and at the Barcelona Science Park. A positive assessment by the FDA is a mandatory requirement for any laboratory that wishes to study pharmaceutical products which are going to be commercialized in the United States, and enables the SCT to offer its users another element of trust on the high quality standards of the analyses of pharmaceutical products performed.
