The company Vesismin Health –present in the Barcelona Science Park and specialized in the development and commercialization of products for the control of infections in hospital environments– has introduced the advanced UVGI technology (Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation), in different hospitals in Spain. Its professional system for medical use, UV-360, produces germicidal ultraviolet radiation for comprehensive disinfection of rooms and is equipped with motion sensors that automatically interrupt operation when they detect a presence.

Ona Therapeutics raises €30M in Series A financing Blog Post

Ona Therapeutics –a spin-off from IRB Barcelona and ICREA, based in the Barcelona Science Park– announces today the closing of a €30 million Series A financing, the largest private funding round closed for a start-up in Spain. The financing will allow Ona Therapeutics to complete the pre-clinical development in a variety of tumor types and to move its lead candidate into first clinical studies in patients with metastatic cancer in 2023.

Oxolife raises €5 million in a funding round and joins the Barcelona Science Park Blog Post

Genesis Biomed, based in the Barcelona Science Park, has just founded Everai Medical Technologies, a startup that focused its activity on developing software that will make it possible to share patient data between the ambulance doctor and the hospital’s emergency personnel. Oncoheroes Biosciences announces the receipt of funding from Super Sam Foundation, a pediatric cancer nonprofit organization. Oncoheroes is a Boston based biotech with its European headquarters at the Barcelona Science Park. The startup was co-founded in 2017 by Ricardo Garcia, a serial entrepreneur from Barcelona, and the Italian scientist Cesare Spadoni, two parents touched by childhood cancer and determined to change the outlook for these young patients.

 

First foal born in Spain using a procedure which enhances reproductive efficiency and genetic preservation in elite animals Blog Post

The first horse conceived as a result of a combination of ovum pick up (OPU) and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), two in vitro fertilisation techniques which enhance fertility and enable the genetic preservation of elite animals, has just been born in Catalonia. This birth points to the future of equine assisted reproduction in Spain. It has been made possible by a project carried out entirely in the country led by the Embryotools centre based in the Barcelona Science Park in partnership with CREA Veterinaris and Embriones Equino.
