Jordi Naval CEO of the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation of the University of Barcelona

The Board of the Bosch i Gimpera Foundation (FBG) appointed on the proposal of the rector of the University of Barcelona (UB), Dídac Ramírez, Jordi Naval as new CEO of the FBG. The foundation, based at the Barcelona Science Park (PCB), focuses on promoting and managing the transfer of the knowledge and technology generated at the UB. 

 

 

Jordi Naval (Barcelona, ​​1969) sets as top priorities as head of the FBG the enhancement of the research that can be converted into beneficial products and services to society by creating new technology-based companies or partnerships between universities and the companies.

Naval placed innovation as a priority of the transfer office of the UB: “The University of Barcelona is a leader in research statewide. We’ve got to make it attractive to society and productive sector and contribute, thus, to the Economic progress. In this sense, the FBG must be the link between university and society and this binomial only works if you add a derived: Innovation”.

“The FBG takes over 30 years detecting social demands in each historical period and establishing links between research groups and companies. We want to encourage a climate of confidence between researchers and the productive sector. Only in this way will impact to the society, “said Naval.

Bachelor of Pharmacy from the UB and Biochemistry at the UAB, Naval co-founded five companies in the field of health: Infociencia, Anaxomics, Enemce Pharma, Genocosmetics and HIV-Therapeutics. All of them have in common the transformation of different technologies into products and services with social and economic value. He is also founder and president of the Foundation School of Entrepreneurs, a nonprofit organization dedicated to training in entrepreneurship and enterprise knowledge among students of High School, training cycles, undergraduate and graduate.

Jordi Naval is replacing M. Carme Verdaguer. The rector of the UB, Dídac Ramírez wanted to thank Verdaguer its work during eight years as head of the pioneer institution in promoting business-university relations.
