Fundación GAEM organices the first charity race #Yodoymispasos for multiple sclerosis

On the occasion of World Multiple Sclerosis Day, next 30th of May, Fundación GAEM, based in the Barcelona Science Park, is organizing a virtual race for the first time, as part of its solidarity campaign Yo doy mis pasos (#Yodoymispasos) for Multiple Sclerosis. The race is open to the participation of all audiences, including people with reduced mobility, who may opt for a route without a fixed distance, and so achieve participation.

The race can be held from May 30 to June 12 anywhere in the world and proposes distances from 5 km to 50 km to be covered walking, running, cycling.

It is the first race organized within the campaign Yo doy mis pasos, launched in 2019, which has nearly 40,000 registered throughout Spain, and which aims to raise awareness how is life with multiple sclerosis, a condition that affects 55,000 people in Spain. #Yodoymispasos has been present in numerous popular events such as the Women’s Race, the Titan Desert, the City of Elche International Half Marathon, or the’ Volta a Catalunya’.

Fundación GAEM aims to gather at least 1,000 participants in this first virtual race and will allocate a large part of the funds obtained to promote research, and in particular to develop its spinal cord neurostimulation project, which could allow more than 5,000 people to walk again and/or improve their gait in Spain alone.

Likewise, the foundation will donate 15% of the profits to the Médecins sans Frontières emergency fund, activated in the event of conflicts such as the one in Ukraine.

» Registrations can be made at TopRun an application that, together with Strava, will measure the routes.
