Droplite opens seed round of 600.000€ to accelerate the manufacturing development of its smart medical diagnostics device Blog Post

Droplite, located in the Parc Cientific de Barcelona (PCB), has recently started the industrial design and manufacturing development of its smart diagnostics device, focused on point of care (POC). The company, that it was born in 2018, as a spinoff of the Institute of Photonics Sciences (ICFO), from the hand of two entrepreneurs: André Guedes (CEO) and Rafael Porcar (CTO), was recognized with the Seal of Excellence by the European Union and with the Innovative SME seal from the Ministry of Science and Innovation.

The Barcelona Science Park (PCB) is an accredited provider for the Innovation Coupons programme, an initiative of ACCIÓ –the Catalan Government Agency for Business Competitiveness– for companies with 5–100 employees that want to carry out an innovative project, be it an improvement in a production process or a new service, product or business model. The 2018 call is now open and the deadline for submission ends on November 27.

Scientific and Technological Centers UB: 30 years of technology serving research and innovation Blog Post

The Scientific and Technological Centers of the University of Barcelona (CCiTUB) reached their first thirty years of activity over which they have become widely known in both the national and international fields of research, innovation, and transfer. At the moment, the team in CCiTUB is formed by a hundred and sixty experts and administration staff, and eighty of tem are doctors, distributed in thirty-eight units, six of which are located in the Barcelona Science Park (PCB), among which there is the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Laboratory (LRB), listed in the Map of Unique Scientific and Technical Infraestructures (ICTS). 

 

New Born Solutions creates the first non-invasive 3-second screening device for infant meningitis Blog Post

The Catalan start-up New Born Solutions has created the first non-invasive screening device for infant meningitis to work in only three seconds. Headquartered in the Barcelona Science Park, the company is one of twenty beneficiaries of the ACCIÓ Startup Capital grant—a cash injection of up to 75,000 euros intended to promote the growth of emerging technology companies—with the product expected to be marketed in 2020.
