| The Parc Científic Barcelona (PCB, Barcelona Science Park) brings together public research centres, companies and spin-offs, and observatories, all of which aim to promote knowledge and technology transfer. |

| The concentration of public research groups and companies from the pharmaceutical, biotech and fine chemistry sectors within the PCB means that basic research and the discovery of new drugs are genuinely brought together, thus enabling a wide range of synergies to be developed. These synergies frequently lead to the creation of mixed research units. |
