The Barcelona Science Park is set to have a strong presence at BioSpain 2018

From 25 to 27 September, the FIBES Exhibition Congress Centre in Seville will be the venue for BioSpain 2018, one of the the largest biotech event in Europe and the fifth most important event in the world in terms of number of partnering meetings. This 9th edition of the event is being organised by the Spanish Bioindustry Association (ASEBIO) together with the Regional Government of Andalusia, through the IDEA Agency. Nearly one hundred companies and institutions from the BioRegion of Catalonia – including the Barcelona Science Park (PCB) and a large number of entities located in the Park – have confirmed their attendance at the fair, which is held every two years in a different Spanish city.

The Catalan delegation will represent 16% of the total number of Spanish companies due to take part in BioSpain 2018. The Barcelona Science Park (PCB) will be welcoming visitors in the BioRegion of Catalonia pavilion, coordinated by Biocat and located in the centre of the exhibition space. The pavilion will also house individual stands hosted by six Catalan companies, including Enantia, based at the PCB. In addition, the BioRegion pavilion will also feature a shared area where Molomics Biotech company, the Leitat Technological Center and the Catalan Biotechnology Reference Network (XRB) will have visibility.

EIT Health Spain, the Bosch i Gimpera FoundationGENESIS Biomed and ZBM Patents & Trademarks will participate on their own with a booth at the fair space.

Other PCB-based companies and organisations that will be in attendance at the event are: the Biotechnology Business Institute (IEB), the National Centre for Genomic Analysis (CNAG – CRG), the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC), the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona) and the Aelix Therapeutics, Aromics, GalchimiaIDP Discovery Pharma, Iproteos, LeanBioPro and STAT-Dx/QIAGEN Company companies.

BioSpain 2018 will feature a trade fair, a partnering event, plenary sessions and conferences addressing a broad range of subjects with speakers from home and abroad, as well as a financing forum that will bring together more than thirty investors from all over the world.

The last event, held in Bilbao in 2016, attracted 1,750 delegates from 800 companies in 29 countries (with 28% of the attendees coming from outside Spain), 233 exhibitors and 50 international investors, and included 3,000 one-to-one meetings.
