The attaché for Science and Technology of the French embassy visits the CNAG

The attaché for Science and Technology at the French Embassy in Spain, Guy Molénat, together with Anne-Laure Fize, head of projects of this organization, have visited today the National Centre for Genomic Analysis () accommodated by the Barcelona Science Park (PCB) in order to gain a closer look at this facility, which is one of the best infrastructures in Spain in its field. Both individuals have been greeted by the director of the CNAG, researcher Ivo Gut, and the director of Scientific Policy of the PCB, Jordi Quintana, and the director of Communications and Institutional Relations, who have accompanied them in order to explain the main projects being conducted by this unit.

Both Guy Molénat and Anne-Laure Fize will be participating this year as representatives of the French government in Spain in the 2nd edition of the “Summer School on Medicines”(SSM2) a summer school jointly organized by the Barcelona Science Park and the Toulouse Cancer Campus in order to expand the training of university and post-doctoral students in the development process of new drugs. The first edition was held in Barcelona and the SSM2 will take place in Toulouse, but includes visits to centres that promote innovation and companies from the pharmaceutical sector in both countries. For this reason, in this year’s programme attendees are projected to visit the Barcelona Science Park and some of the biotech firms it accommodates.

The creation of this school is an initiative that emerged within the framework of the Spain-France dialogue forum, composed of members from the civil society of both countries. It draws together representatives from the economic, political, academic and cultural sectors in order to establish joint projects in several fields. The Science and Technology Service of the French embassy in Spain is in charge of promoting the scientific and university cooperation that exists between France and Spain.
