Let’s Clean Up Europe, a testament to the effectiveness of volunteering

The Let’s Clean Up Europe (LCUE) campaign is a common European action to make us aware of the amount of waste we thoughtlessly throw away in nature and to underline the importance of conscious action by picking up litter from forests, beaches and riverbanks.

The European Commission has been coordinating and promoting waste collection activities for 10 years. The 2024 campaign will take place between 10 and 12 May 2024.

In Catalonia, the LCUE 2023 campaign mobilised more than 60,000 people to action, who managed to remove 90.1 tonnes of waste from the environment.

Attached you will find the calendar and the locations of the activities scheduled for 2024. We invite you to look for any way to collaborate in keeping Catalonia beautiful! Unfortunately, the natural environment is full of non-degradable materials and waste that disturb the fauna and flora. Plastics, cans, glass, tyres, building debris and countless other objects are scattered throughout forests and on beaches, and they are not going anywhere unless we do something. Not only are they ugly to look at, they are also fire hazards and pollute the subsoil.

Citizen participation and volunteering can help take care of Mother Earth like she deserves.
