The Institut de Biologia Molecular de Barcelona (IBMB-CSIC) is dedicated to the study of the fundamental molecular structures and genetic mechanisms involved in the physiology and development of the living organisms.

 

The IBMB-CSIC maintains a high scientific profile at international level and plays a key role in the creation and transfer of knowledge to the industrial and biomedical sectors.

 

The main research lines of IBMB-CSIC span from Structural Biology, Gene Regulation, Cell Physiology, to Developmental Biology. The 27 group leaders and near 120 researchers currently working at IBMB are financed by Spanish Government Agencies, by the Generalitat de Catalunya and by the European Union. There are also a number of research contracts with industrial partners. The Institute has about 40 PhD students.
