On 16 September, ”la Caixa” Banking Foundation presented the 79 grants for national and international research and innovation projects of excellence. Among the beneficiaries of funding from ”la Caixa” are researchers Eduard Batlle, Raúl Méndez, Meritxell Teixidó and Enrique Marcos, from the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona), and José Antonio del Río, Pau Gorostiza and Samuel Sánchez, from the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC).

Salvador Aznar Benitah receives the VI National ‘Doctores Diz Pintado’ Cancer Research Prize Blog Post

ICREA researcher and group leader of the Stem Cells and Cancer Laboratory at IRB Barcelona, Salvador Aznar Benitah, has been awarded the VI National ‘Doctores Diz Pintado’ Cancer Research Prize. Last Saturday, he received the award during the academic session held by the University of Salamanca. The prize acknowledges Salvador Aznar Benitah’s contributions to transferring knowledge from basic to clinical research.

Laboratorios Ordesa, with a history of over 70 leading child nutrition, has now entered the dermatology market with the marketing of Pediatopic, a new product line for the care of atopic skin in children. Since 2007, Ordesa has had a R&D&I center at  Parc Científic de Barcelona (PCB) from where the company actively takes part in clinical trials and national and international research programs to enhance the health and quality of life of individuals, especially during the maternal and child stage of life. 

 

The Ordesa Foundation allocates 300,000 euros to charity projects for disadvantaged children Blog Post

The Ordesa Foundation has given the Ordesa 2015 grants, endowed with a total of 300,000 euros. A large part of this amount will be allocated to six projects aimed to address the most disadvantaged childhood and motherhood population in the world. As a novelty, this edition has added a new category aimed at twenty initiatives aimed at children at social risk in Spain which will receive a grant of 5,000 euros each. This´s year call will also donate 10 tons of baby food to social institutions that cater to families without resources. Since 2007 Ordesa has a R+D+I Center at PCB from which it takes an active role in clinical studies and national and international programs to improve the health and quality of citizens, especially during the maternal-child stage. 

 

The Ordesa Foundation collaborates with Doctors Without Borders to improve the nutrition of Congolese children Blog Post

The Ordesa Foundation will finance 34,000 units of prepared therapeutic food (RUTF) that Doctors Without Borders (MSF) will distribute to children suffering from severe acute malnutrition in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The partnership is part of the work conducted by the Ordesa Foundation to provide funding and advocacy, through direct aid, to projects aimed at children without resources. Since 2007, the Ordesa Group has R&D&i center at Barcelona Science Park (PCB), from which it is actively involved in clinical studies and national and international programs to improve people´s health and quality of life, especially in maternal and infant stage.
