GlyCardial Diagnostics has won the  the EmprendedorXXI Award in the ‘Health Tech’ category, one of the six awards granted in its twelfth year to recognize those companies in Spain and Portugal with greatest growth potential in several sectors linked to the new innovation trends. The winners have been selected from 961 companies in Spain and Portugal. The biotechnology company, headquartered in the Barcelona Science Park, adds this award to the EmprendedorXXI Award in Catalonia, which it received on 9 May.

Today, the Caixaforum auditorium in Barcelona has hosted the 10th EmprendedorXXI Awards Ceremony, an initiative promoted by “la Caixa”, through Caixa Capital Risc, and co-awarded by the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness, through Enisa.The biotechnology company, Avizorex Pharma, an ophthalmology biotech company with offices at Barcelona Science Park (PCB), has received the award in the Life Sciences category.

 

Devicare wins the 8th EntrepreneurXXI Award in the ‘entrepreneur’ category Blog Post

Devicare a company associated at the Parc Cientific de Barcelona, has been awarded one of the EntrepreneurXXI Award, the initiative for innovation projects organized by “la Caixa”, through Caixa Capital Risc, together with the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, through Eninsa (National Innovation Company), and the City Council of Barcelona, through Barcelona Activa, as organizer in Catalonia. Devicare has been co-winner of the ‘entrepreneur‘ category which recognizes the best startups, with less than two years on the market. The founders of all companies received their award on Friday at CaixaForum Barcelona from the Minister of Industry, Energy and Tourism, José Manuel Soria, and the Director General of the Fundaciò Bancària “la Caixa”, Jaume Giró, who chaired the event together with with Marcelino Armenter, Director General of Criteria; Alón Bar, Israeli Ambassador to Spain, and Sonia Recasens, Second Deputy Mayor of the City Council of Barcelona.

Iproteos wins the Expoquimia R+D+I Award in the Biotechnology category Blog Post

Catalan biotech Iproteos -located at the Parc Cientific de Barcelona- has won the Expoquimia R+D+I Award in the Biotechnology category for the development of IPR19, a new drug to stop the progression and reverse the cognitive deficits associated with schizophrenia. The spin-off, founded by two Catalan scientists leaders in the field of therapeutic peptides, Teresa Tarrago and Ernest Giralt, expect to begin clinical trials of the compound in 2016. Endowed with € 5,000 in each of their two categories -Biotechnology and Chemistry- the Expoquimia R+D+I Awards were delivered yesterday during the World Chemical Summit Night as part of the Expoquimia Exhibit at the Fair of Barcelona grounds.

The PCB-Santander Bioincubator ranks third in the category of payback on investment in the international ranking for incubators, “Best Practices in Science Based Incubators 2009”, which is coordinated by the Technopolicy Network, a scientific network. The awards ceremony took place at the 8th Annual Conference and Awards on Best Practices in Science Based Incubators, which was held in Stockholm on November 19 and 20.
