The experimental workshops of the Research in Society programme start today in person

Today, the experimental workshops Discover research! and Do research! of the Research in Society programme begin in person. In this edition, 78 workshops will be held in which a total of 1,799 students will participate.

Of the 365 applications received from educational centers throughout Catalonia, 208 applications correspond to the ¡Discover research! cycle, aimed at upper primary school students, and 157 to Do research! cycle, aimed at the ESO educational community , Baccalaureate and training cycles.

The Park has assigned 34 workshops to the Discover research!, in which 777 students will participate, and 44 workshops for 1,022 students to the Do research!

Specifically, 98 students from 3 schools correspond to the places assigned to the staff of entities of the PCB Community that have asked to enjoy this call.

Since the Park participates in the Barcelona City Council’s Gratuïtats CIP program, it has also reserved 120 places for highly complex schools, which this year have been filled with the applications received.

On September 15, the raffle was held to assign the places to the workshops. The final lists can be consulted at this link [+].

Discover research! and Do research! are part of Research in Society, a programme launched by the Barcelona Science Park in 2003 to bring science closer to the public at large and encourage vocations among young people. It currently includes over 100 activities in which around 5,000 people participate every year.

The programme t is backed by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) under the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, and by the Barcelona City Council. In 2016, this initiative has been awarded with the Educational Quality Label from Barcelona’s Pedagogical Coordination Council (CCP) set up by the Barcelona Municipal Institute of Education (IMEB).
