Biocat Report shows growth in international investment in BioRegion of Catalonia Blog Post

More than 300 professionals from the sector attended the event to present a new edition of the Biocat Report, the benchmark study on the healthcare and life sciences sector in Catalonia. Under de title “Escaling-up the BioRegion of Catalonia”, the Biocat Report highlights the growing attractiveness of the life sciences and health sector for international investment –linked to the positioning of the BioRegion as a European hub in health research–, the increase in the number of companies and the occupation of sector, as well as the advance of innovation in health towards social impact. Biocat, the organization that coordinates and promotes the life sciences sector in Catalonia, has its headquarters in the Barcelona Science Park.

 

The project ¨Training and social awareness for increasing organ donation in the European Union and neighbouring countries¨ (EUDONORGAN) has been launched Blog Post

The main objective of the European project EUDONORGAN, acronym for ‘Training and social awareness for increasing organ donation in the European Union and neighbouring countries’ is to provide training and increase social awareness in the EU and neighbouring countries with the ultimate aim to increase the number of donors. The project  –led by the University of BarcelonaBosch i Gimpera Foundation (UB-FBG) together with the DTI Foundation located at the Barcelona Science Park– is based on two (WPs), Social Awareness and Train the Trainers, the latter coordinated by DTI, which has trained over the last 25 years approximately 13,000 health professionals from more than 100 countries through its International Program TPM.

DTI Foundation: A decade promoting research and training in donation and transplant Blog Post

Yesterday, DTI Foundation (Donation &Transplantation Institute) celebrated its 10th anniversary at Barcelona Science Park. The Foundation —created in Barcelona in 2008— was conceived with the aim of providing consultancy, training and support to professionals from public and private organisations in creating, developing and strengthening networks, programmes and services in the area of organ, tissue and human cell donation and transplantation worldwide. Since its formation, the organization has trained over 14,000 healthcare professionals in the area of organ and tissue donation and transplantation in over 100 countries worldwide. 

 

Biocat and Leitat will coordinate two of the five RIS3CAT Communities Blog Post

The RIS3CAT Community for Digital applications in biotechnology and health therapies –coordinated by Biocat from its headquarters at the Barcelona Science Park (PCB)– is one of the first RIS3CAT Communities to which Government of Catalonia, through ACCIÓ, has allocated 19.1 million Euros from the ERDF fund (European Regional Development Fund). Leitat –whose BioMed Division is based at PCB– will also coordinate a further RIS3CAT Community for New diagnostic devices and big data applied to health, in which Intelligent Pharma, located at PCB, leads one of the four projects: ‘Diabetes as an accelerator of cognitive derioration in Alzheimer´s disease: Integral approach and treatment adherence’.
