Jane Goodall and the will to follow a dream

The recent passing of primatologist Jane Goodall has sparked an outpouring of tributes and reflections around the world. Voices from every corner have celebrated her discoveries in the field with chimpanzees and her lifelong commitment to the conservation of nature and communities. As UN Secretary-General António Guterres remarked: “She is leaving an extraordinary legacy for humanity and our planet.”

Among the many articles published in recent days, one point stands out again and again: Dr Goodall was a passionate woman who never let anything stand in the way of her dream.

Passion and dreams made real! Working with excitement, adding value and helping to make the world a better place… what more could we ask for? She leaves behind a powerful example of consistency between belief and action.

One of Goodall’s lasting legacies is the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI), now active in 27 countries, with its Spanish headquarters based in Barcelona. The Parc Científic de Barcelona (PCB) collaborates with the JGI by donating used mobile phones. These devices are processed as waste, with valuable metals recovered and converted into funds that support educational projects, all while helping to reduce mineral extraction in the regions where these resources originate.

You’ll find special recycling bins for mobile phones and tablets in all the PCB’s reception areas. A simple gesture that helps to continue the work of the great scientist and human being, Jane Goodall.
