BioGlane, based in the Barcelona Scientific Park, has won the 2011 Expoquimia R+D+I Award in the Biotechnology category. This company has launched a natural molecule (D-fagomine) which regulates the appetite and can be used as a dietary complex.The Expoquimia Awards will be presented on15th November at the closing ceremony of the International Year of Chemistry.
The biotech firm Endor Nanotechnologies, based at the Barcelona Science Park, received high honours at the 14th annual Bancaja Awards ’08 for Young Entrepreneurs sponsored by the Bancaja Foundation. The competition seeks to stimulate entrepreneurship, provide support to new business initiatives undertaken by young people, and encourage innovation and socioeconomic development. This year’s competition, which received more than 400 submissions from entrants throughout Spain, recognised only 40 of them, handing out a total of 425,000 euros in prize money.
