Agrasys launches to the market the first newly created cereal in the world for human consumption Blog Post

Agrasys, a spin-off of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) located at the Barcelona Science Park, has launched to the market Tritordeum, the first newly created cereal marketed in the world for human consumption. The official presentation took place at Hotel Claris in Barcelona, with a welcome by members of Agrasys and the participation of master baker Josep A. Ribas, author of the Cruixent artisan breads bakery, and Chef Josep M. Freixa, presently head of the Tradició Freixa Restaurant (awarded with a Michelin star).

El 17 d’agost, en la Facultat de Ciències Químiques i Farmacèutiques de la Universitat de Xile, Fernando Albericio, director General del Parc Científic Barcelona (PCB), catedràtic de Química Orgànica de la Universitat de Barcelona i investigador principal de l’IRB Barcelona i va impartir la classe magistral: “Ciència Interdisciplinària i Interestamental: Nanotecnologia, un bon exemple”. Durant l’acte, que va reunir prop de 80 persones, el científic va ser guardonat per la seva destacada contribució al Doctorat en Ciències Farmacèutiques de la Universitat de Xile i al suport brindat al laboratori de Nanobiotecnología d’aquesta Facultat.

María Casado, director of the of the Universitat de Barcelona (UB), located in the Barcelona Science Park, has been honored by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) with the concession of the UNESCO Chair in Bioethics at the UB. The creation of the UNESCO Chair in Bioethics at the UB means international recognition both of María Casado and of the activity she is developing at the Bioethics and Law Observatory, and which carries out a line of research and transference of pluridisciplinary knowledge on the ethical, social, and juridical implications of biotechnology and biomedicine.
