The Observatory of Bioethics and Law in support of the Hinxton Statement on stem cell research Blog Post

The Observatory on Bioethics and Law () has expressed its support of the regarding research on embryonic stem cells, made by sixty specialists, researchers, legal experts, specialists in bioethics and editors of scientific journals from 14 countries. The preparation of this statement, developed in Hinxton (UK), involved Josep Santaló, member of the OBD and researcher with the Dept. of Cell Biology, Physiology and Immunology at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.

Conference in honour of the late professor Josep Egozcue, member of the Observatory on Bioethics and Law Blog Post

On Tuesday 4 April, the Antoni Caparrós auditorium of the Parc Científic de Barcelona (PCB, Barcelona Science Park) hosted a of the late Josep Egozcue, member of the (OBD) and full professor with the Dept. of Cell Biology, Physiology and Immunology at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, who died of cancer on 7 February. The conference will address his contribution to the activities undertaken by the OBD and, in particular, to the coordination of several studies made by the observatory’s opinion group.

The European Association of Global Bioethics to organize a symposium on multiculturalism and health Blog Post

On 16 and 17 March, the European Association of Global Bioethics (), which involves the UB Observatory of Bioethics and Law (), will hold a scientific symposium entitled “Multiculturalism and health”. From a bioethical viewpoint, specialists from a range of disciplines will give presentations on the adaptation of the health system to cultural diversity, the independence of patients, and changes in legislation, among other issues.

On Tuesday 15 November, the Association of Bioethics and Law (), located at the Parc Científic de Barcelona (PCB, Barcelona Science Park), will hold the first of a series of conferences included in its “Biomedical Research Seminar Programme”, which will take place during the 2005-2006 academic year.
