Our cardboard is valuable!

In just 6 weeks, the PCB’s cardboard compactor has already filled a 20-m3 container and collected between 2 and 3 tonnes in 30 days. The machine serves the population of the Cluster I and Cluster II buildings (about 2,100 people) and we can estimate a collection ratio of 83.33 kg/day. To put this into context, the average cardboard collection in 2024 was 51.27 kg/inhabitant/year in Catalonia and 30.20 kg/inhabitant/year in El Barcelonès.

Cardboard is high-value waste: it can be easily reintroduced into the production cycle to once again become good-quality packaging. Recovering waste means extending the life of materials, saving raw materials and reducing waste destined for landfill.

We encourage you to collaborate in the selective collection of cardboard and all other valuable materials so that they do not become waste. You have specific bins for: cardboard; non-polluting plastic; rigid plastic of caps and pipette tips boxes; glass; hard-shell ice packs; unused mobile phones; batteries or organic matter. The aim is to cut down on waste in the bin from trivial items that are impossible to recycle.
