Lumiris receives the Digital Entrepreneur Award granted by Catalunya Ràdio

The medical technology company Lumiris, a spin-off from the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) based at the Barcelona Science Park, won in the Breakthrough category of the Digital Entrepreneur Awards, organized by the Revolució 4.0 program on Catalunya Ràdio, in recognition of its technology aimed at improving assisted reproduction treatments.

Lumiris has developed a non-invasive diagnostic imaging technology capable of analysing the metabolism of human embryos and selecting the most suitable ones for implantation in the uterus. This innovation has the potential to significantly reduce the time and treatment cycles required for in vitro fertilisation, thus optimising the results of fertility treatments and minimising their emotional toll.

“We are very grateful for this award and recognition. It has been a long journey, involving effort and dedication from the entire team. This recognition gives us the strength to continue working to bring our technology to clinics and help those in greatest need,” said Anna Seriola, co-founder and scientific director of Lumiris, during the awards ceremony.

Samuel Ojosnegros, the company’s co-founder and CEO, as well as the principal investigator of the IBEC’s Reproductive Health Bioengineering group, emphasised that “we are dedicated to assisted reproduction patients, who generously donate their embryos so that we can conduct research. With this technology, we aim to alleviate some of the emotional distress that can accompany these processes and make them more efficient”.

You can listen to the entire Lumiris award ceremony, in Catalan, on the special programme Revolució 4.0: The winners of the 7th edition of the Digital Entrepreneurs Awards.
