Overview of all actions affecting mobility, removal of parking spaces and initiatives launched by the Park

The following is a review outlining the schedule of the different works that will affect mobility around the Park in the coming months and which will result in a progressive and definitive reduction in the number of parking spaces. These measures are being promoted by Barcelona City Council, FC Barcelona and the UB as part of various urban development and mobility improvement plans. We will also provide details about the measures being taken by the Park to reduce the impact of these plans on its community of users.

Installation of a municipal sports centre in the Bederrida parking lot.

Barcelona City Council installs a provisional municipal sports pavilion (3 years) on the Bederrida plot. There are no plans to recover these parking spaces.

Timetable: Work already started.

Work on the Espai Barça project

The urbanisation and repair works of different streets and spaces near the PCB within the framework of the Espai Barça project are already underway. They affect Carrer de Menéndez Pelayo, Avinguda de Joan XXIII and the roundabout connecting the two streets. They involve removal of the free above-ground car park that exists between Carrer de Menéndez Pelayo and the mortuary.

Timetable: Until November, traffic on Carrer de Menéndez Pelayo will continue in both directions, but parking will only be possible on the upper verge of the road. After December, and with the space of the old free car park already operating as a new carriageway, the works will affect the upper verge area and only one lane in each direction and pedestrian pavements will be preserved, with no parking spaces.

Improvement work on the Illa Florensa car park

Work is being carried out on the Illa Florensa car park, located between Carrer de Pascual i Vila, Carrer de Llorens Artigas and Carrer d’Adolf Florensa. The car park will now be accessed via Carrer de Llorens Artigas. This will mean closing the free access area located in the northern side. The current access from Pascual i Vila will be closed when the works allow it. All existing free parking spaces will be lost and access control will be carried out with the UB system of proximity cards that will be managed from the Faculty of Fine Arts. Current users of this space should contact the UB to find out if they will be able to access other parking spaces.

Timetable: Work begins in mid-August.

Park Initiatives
The progressive disappearance of parking space, environmental awareness and the commitment to new mobility have prompted the Park to plan and implement a series of measures detailed below:
– Launch of the PCB Community carpooling (October 2022): The Park, together with a number of institutions and companies in its community, will launch this initiative with the aim of fewer cars coming to the PCB and more cars being full. Community members who wish to do so will be able to organise joint journeys via an app and share their expenses.
– New bicycle parking spaces: This week, a total of 17 parking racks were opened in front of the Offices Cluster building on Carrer de Baldiri Reixac. They have the capacity to park 34 bicycles in addition to the existing spaces.
– Scooter parking spaces: There are several parking spaces available for scooters. You will find them next to the changing room area, in the basement of the Offices Cluster building.

Please note that you can use the secure car park on the PCB premises. It offers monthly subscriptions and discounted parking rates.
